gone forever

OK, everyone knew clear pepsi would come and go quickly. but there's so much other stuff that disappears that no one really notices! most of it is for the better but some of it is for the worse and I really miss that stuff. this page is for me to ramble on about what's gone from my life already. read on.

    for better

  • toasters where your bagel or english muffin would get stuck and as you stabbed it with a fork (praying you wouldn't get electrocuted), pieces would rip off and fall to the bottom and your mom would yell "why don't you clean it out every once in a while!" I don't miss toasters. that annoying ding when it wasn't even done. and they never even did that cool pop up thingie where it flies a foot into the air. those lying bastards! the only thing good about toasters were that they left your food easily obtainable. with toaster ovens, you burn the top of your hand reaching in, and then your toast falls through the bottom anyway.

  • bars of soap washing your body with everone else's dirty germs that were left on the soap, having the slippery things shoot out of your hands onto the germy floor... now tell me, if your squeezable stuff today splushed onto the floor in your shower, would you take your washcloth/poof and wipe the soap onto it to use on your body? I don't think so. and there'd always be a big indent in the middle of the soap bar, and then at the end there'd be little slivers left that just plain sucked.

  • the sports bottle before poland spring bottles you know, those big hot-colored reuseable plastic sports bottles with those long ripply straws you could swing around and they'd whistle. the bottles were so huge and a pain in the neck to carry around, and anything you put in would taste like plastic. now everyone just uses 16 oz. poland spring bottles or something. but they'll never have those cool straws. actually, I just found one of those old ones. whoohoo!

  • lickable stamps even though it's kinda sad we'll never again get to taste that tangy glue, its so fun to stick the sticker stamps onto envelopes. and they'll never look faded. yeah!!

  • no more damn nintendo game cartridges! it was so annoying to have to blow away the dust inside and keep shoving the stupid cartridge in, and it would only fit in a certain way or you'd keep getting that black screen. ahh, the good old days, right?

  • those library cards they put in books with the return date stamped on them, that you always lost, and before that the date stickers they stuck all over the front of the book. actually, I kinda miss those cards because you could imagine some dude taking out the book on May 2, 1986 or whatever. now they just give you a boring print-out of when everything is due.

    for worse

  • paper straw wrappers this just recently happened, and its spreading everywhere! instead of being wrapped in that paper stuff, straws are now in crappy see-through plastic. bleh! i pity the poor generation whatever who are growing up now, because they'll never be able to rip off 2/3 of the paper and then blow the rest off through the straw. i'll miss doing that. plus you never knew what color the straw was, or if there were lines on it, or if it was bendy, until you slid off the paper. i hate plastic! and it never decomposes. yick. why'd they have to do this... i don't see any advantage at all! : (

  • the old Trix these damn things don't taste good anymore! back when all the flavors were round, they were light and poofy and were soooo yummy (just like how the poofy cheese doodles are better, right kath? ha!). but now they're all shapes and are too dense of sweetness and are ucky ucky ucky. argh! I miss the old Trix. *sniff*

  • Wheaties Honey Gold this was my favorite cereal... and they just discontinued it, without any warning!! I even wrote to the company but they were just like "sorry, but we don't plan on continuing this cereal" or something. :o(

  • Mr. Melon that candy from the ice cream man. it was little watermelon shaped candies, green outside and red inside, and they were soooooo good, and really cheap too. but then they weren't there anymore and I asked the guy Chris what happened and he said they stopped making them cause they would melt and stick to the box or something, there was something weird about the sugar. mine never stuck to the box! and who cares about some weird cancer I'll get from the sugar! they were the best! erg. I bet there's a lot of stuff the ice cream man business discontinued... wow, how do you become an ice cream man? is there a liscense? and isn't it freakin cool how there is that power to keep the ice cream cold? does it hook up to the battery or something? ok, now I'm rambling hehe.

that's all I have for now. if you have any suggestion, you can email me. thanks.
