Our Personal Fellings Of Disspelled Tales of "The Vicious Doberman".

The common fright instilled in the "uneducated" people, when they see a Doberman Pincher, is a stereotyped fairy tale assumption, and is unfair, both to the Dobe and the person whom assumes that all doberman's are mean and vicious. We are not doberman experts, or "show dog" owners. We are merely "pet owners". We do know enough about doberman's though, that they are NOT bred as, or by nature, mean & vicious. Like any other dog (with possibly the exception of the Pit Bull), if you have come upon a mean, vicious doberman, it was either trained, neglected or cruely treated into that type of manner. Then, of course, there are people that just don't like "dogs" at all. We, sometimes, even trust our two dobies, more than we do people. We do not deny that our dogs will bite, when hostily provoked. Our dobies are very protective of us, but are very, very gentle, they eat from our hands, and will not bite, if we reach to their bowl, while they are eating. Our dobies are free living lives, and run free from chains or small pens. They are leash trained, but, in concert with the local leash laws, it allows that a dog does not require a leash if it can be controlled and is within close proximity of the owner. My husband walks them loose beside him in public, but I haven't gotten that liberal, when we take walks.
