Some of the girls STILL have outstanding paperwork that
MUST be turned in.  (mainly immunization records)  Every
year this information is required to be updated.  This rule comes
down from GSUSA and the leaders are obligated to enforce it.
The church has a copy machine we can use but we need the
records!

The following girls are missing part of their registration forms:
the * means these are required EVERY year by everyone!
Without these required forms, the girls will NOT be able to
participate with our troop.
Megan; immunization* & meeting*
Debbie; immunization*
Katie; Medical* & behavior
Caitlin;  entire package* (needs to be in her folder! hehe ;)
Jessica;  entire folder*
Stephanie;  entire package*
Brittany; immunization*
Please turn in these forms ASAP!

Dues is $35. and is now past due for some girls.
Please contact Ms. Lori ASAP to make arrangements.
These girls are paid: Christina, Caitlin, Bethany,
Alyssa, Katie, Breanna.  :-)

Troop T-shirts will be ordered Dec. 2nd.  Any girls that do not
already have the T-shirt needs to get their order in by this date.
The cost is $10.  (if a ‘spare’ t-shirt is wanted - same goes)

Ms. Karen and I updated the girl’s records at the overnight.
(During the dance party!)  Their webpages are updated, now.

Cookie Sales will be here before we know it and we still don’t
have an adult Volunteer to organize the Site Sales.  Mary
Thompson (Christina’s mom) has volunteered to be the troop
coordinator (THANK YOU, MARY) but without a site sale
volunteer the troop will have to rely completely on pre-orders.
Mary is not available for site sales.  If you or someone you know
could volunteer, please call or email Mary or either leader.

Everyone should have the updated roster.  Please check for
mistakes.  We’ll make a final roster for Dec.

Rules for drop-off:
 1. make sure that both leaders are there before
     leaving.
 2. prompt arrival at/before 4:30 p.m., so the
     girls can be/get prepared.
 3. if arriving late do not be Disruptive by
announcing it. Get with your patrol & be
                alert.
#1 is REQUIRED.  This is another rule from
GSUSA and it is for the safety of everyone!  We have
set up a rotation system, just in case.  The leaders are
not supposed to be left alone with the girls, so if one
(1) leader is there - each arriving parent/adult will stay
until the next parent/leader arrives.  This is fair to
everyone as long as everyone follows it!  You need to
be aware that if you are relieved by another parent,
you may be called to come pick-up your girl if the
entire meeting is not covered by another adult.

It has been rumored that Ms. Lori & family will be moving to
Atlanta, beginning of the year sometime.  (no paperwork yet)
When the troop returns after the holidays they will plan the
remainder of the year.  Hopefully, we’ll get everything done
we’ve already planned.

With this move comes an available spot for a second leader for
the troop.  PLEASE, seriously consider becoming a leader so
the troop doesn’t have to disband.

The treasurers of each patrol will be responsible for
collecting, depositing, balancing, paying, & shopping.

The secretaries will be in charge of members records, taking
notes, phone tree, and forms turned in.

The asst. patrol leader will take over any position for a
missing scout.  She will also assume the role of Patrol Leader
if necessary.

The Patrol Leader is responsible for maintaining order in her
patrol, presenting ideas to and from the leaders and members,
representing their patrol & not just themselves, and Leading
by example by following the Girl Scout Promise and Law!

The Troop Treasurer/Asst. Webmistress will take over for
any absent treasurers, double-check all payments, fees, etc.,
and keep the troop within budget.  She will also be responsible
for helping to update the website.

Each patrol has chosen a different Sign to work towards.

Sign of the Satellite -  Beluga’s     (Jr. Badges & Signs)
Sign of the World -    Blue’s          (Jr. Handbook)
Sign of the Sun -        Gray’s          (Jr. Badges & Signs)
The girls will have to do some of the requirements at home
(hence the need for the Jr. books).  There are a lot of
requirements for each sign and we will not be able to complete
them all as a troop.  Some of the girls have already completed
different parts to some of the signs so they can check their
folder & see what’s left to complete.  The parents can help with
these requirements by volunteering to have your daughters
patrol come over some day and work on the requirements; or
come in and share your experiences with the troop.  Many
things the girls do at school, or outside activities will apply to a
badge - but if they do not share it with us we can’t give them
credit.  It would be easy if they all went to the same school,
same class, etc., but that’s in fantasy land.

Many of the girls want to ‘go’ more places this year, so we will
try to incorporate more tours, walks, sleepovers, etc. into the
year.  When possible, we will meet at any local sites during our
meeting time.  Help us plan by volunteering to be a driver, if we
need one... even if for 1-2 other girls.  (transportation card, copy
of DL & insurance on file, required)

A list was handed out of items the girls will need some time this
year. This list is not complete but we wanted to allow ample
time for the girls to get some of the items beforehand. (could be
costly if purchased all at once)

The girls should come to the meetings prepared to do anything!
This could include painting, cooking, messy crafts, going on a
scavenger hunt outside, playing in the rain, building
snow-women, etc.. We don’t want to exclude anyone from the
fun, cause they ‘didn’t know we needed to dress appropriately’.
The troop t-shirt with pants is quite appropriate as long as they
have a coat to wear if its chilly and hiking boats or tennis shoes.

The food for the harvest baskets were separated and will be
delivered this week.  The girls did a GREAT job on the
scavenger hunt!  We did collect enough “Ennen’s” turkey
points to get one (1) hen - the attending girls chose the VFW
basket to get it.

A quick note about email.... If the subject line says in bold
lettering ‘PARENTS’ - this is to be read only by the
parents/adults and is not meant for the girls.  Anything else
should be read by the girls, (usually will be to them).
Ms. Karen and I will be taking our daughters/children to the
Roller Barn and would like to invite any girls within the troop
to join us.  We haven’t decided on a date but it will be this
month.  This is an impromptu activity and the permission slips
will be available upon arrival at the Roller Barn.  Each girl will
be responsible for admission/skates/snacks.  Anyone can attend,
however the troop will not be responsible for siblings - so if they
stay they will need adult supervision.

This year Totem council has incorporated a new Millineum
Patch for any/all girls that complete six (6) service projects
between June 15th - Dec. 14th.  Of these projects, one (1) must
benefit the Earth.  The list of projects completed * or planned as
a troop are:
*Aug. - West Beach clean-up (Earth related)
*Aug. - Variety show for retirement home
*Sept. - Made/donated dog bisquits to animal shelter
*Oct.  -  Harvest basket for VFW family
*Oct.  -  Holiday basket given to Help House
*Nov. -  Gifts donated to children at CADA House
Dec. -   Holiday decorations for CADA house
Dec. -   Holiday celebration for Retirement center

Any girls wishing to donate a gift can still do so.  The gifts will
be delivered with the ornaments the 1st week in Dec.   Since
Lopez island had to be cancelled - the girls that need an “Earth”
related project will need to plan something else... Let us know
your ideas quick so we can get done.  So far, Christina and
Bethany have earned this patch!  Way to go girls!!  This patch
will be placed on the back of the vest/sash.

The Girl Scout CALENDARS are here!  Each girl
should try to sell at least 7 @ $2 each.  These are the
pocket calendars as the girls requested.  The troop is
responsible for total payment - no calendars can be
returned to GSUSA, so if the girls don’t sell them the
troop is “out” that money.  If you have not received
your calendars please make arrangements to get them.
We must pay for them on Nov. 15th.  If you can not
sell all your calendars, let us know and maybe another
girl can.  This is not a competition - but a fund-raiser!
