Weekly Web Review #6: by Shelley Rygg

Editors Web Editors

The short and long of it is that Web Editors still can't do everything. What Web Editors can do is take out some of the tedium from pulling together the basics of a web page or site. For the casual Web developer, MS FrontPage 98 is probably adequate, but it, of course, works best with the MicroSoft browser. There are a number of other Web Editors on the market which the professional developer will be more satisfied with.

HomeSite is a shareware software that has been around for a couple of years. What sets it apart from other tools is the fact that it has a clean workarea in which the tools bars do not get in the way, or at least they can be controlled based on user need. Some of the outstanding features of this product include:
1) The Resource Bar which is a graphcial view of your pages and objects;
2) The Tag Definitions Library which lets you edit the tags and add your own;
3) Visual Tools Object Modeler which lets you script actions with VBScript or JavaScript;
4) Shortcut keys;
5) Code templates which let you create pre-typed code that you can insert which a shorthand language that you create.
6) Wysiwyg design view which allows you to move objects around and align them without having to go directly into the code.

Comments from some of our many satisfied users:
"Agile has that hard to define quality like something hand built by people who deeply understand whats needed. It's up there with Mont Blanc fountain pens, Rolex watches and Morgan cars. It's really elegant in its design. I love it." Barry McCullough, Ireland.
"Agile is the BEST HTML editor around." Gary Kerkin, NZ.
"By the way, I really like this product. It works just the way it ought to. Every time I think of a feature I'd like, I discover it's already there, just where I'd look for it." Scott Pendleton, Oaklahoma, USA.
