Turkey Celebrations (grade 6, 1995)
This I wrote when I was in grade 6, at Tower Road School in Halifax, Nova Scotia. It is actually a short story book made up of eleven chapters, each presenting a different Turkey Celebration. Weird and funny, it depicts nothing more than the inagination of an eleven year-old kid.
Introduction
A very long time ago, after the Last Thanksgiving, after humans died, after chickens moved to another planet and after a short time that the mastadonts were expelled, a spaceship with over 10000 turkeys arrived on planet Earth. They called it the T-Planet.

Their home planet, planet ZX, was going to explode and so it happened. 1% of the population agreed to leave with the one and only spaceship invented on their planet. They escaped, but most of their friends died in the explosion.

On the T-Planet, turkey life started again. And, celebrations make a very important part of their daily life. Here are the most important events turkeys love to celebrate.
The New Year's Celebration
When they arrived on the planet Earth they were very happy. They wanted to celebrate that day.

They cooked food and drank T-Wine. they also named this day the New Year's day. It was the first year on the planet Earth, now called T-Planet, and they dedicated this day to their king TeKe, who invented the spaceship that brought them to a new planet and a new life.

Thousands of years ago, this celebration was just a celebration. Turkeys ate as much as they could and drank till they got drunk. Today, they watch TTV, dance to T-music, eat, do out with friends, and spend the night with their families. They also get a 2 T-week vacation.
Valentine's Day Celebration
Valentine's Day is also a big celebration, but not as big as the  New Year's Celebration.

It is a very strange celebration. When the turkeys first came they did not plan on having it. The whole story started when single turkeys, bith males and females, went to a bar on February 1st. There were thousands of them and female turkeys fell in love with male turkeys. A short time after that they got married.

On February 14th there were 2663435 weddings in one city. That day was called Valentine's Day because most of the newly married turkeys were called Valentine or Valentin. This celebrates the day when couples fall in love and get married.

Today the number of weddings is increasing each year. This year's record is 99184759 and it is the only marriage day allowed on the planet T-Planet. It is a very important day to Turkeys.
March Break Celebration
March break is actually a T-celebration during which all turkeys have some time to relax after a long hard working term or to party all week if they are not too tired.

Of course many of them relax. They stay in bed, watch TTV, listen to T-music and let someone else to take care of the business. What business? Well..., cleaning the house, making food, going to the grocery store or taking care of the person that relaxes!

The ones that party go out with friends and have a 7-day party. They drink T-drinks, dance, have T-fun, clebrate, and don't sleep at all.

Today it is still the same. More turkeys celebrate, more T-accidents and more T-deaths happen. That's because turkeys party and drink too much!
Easter
Easter is another important celebration that takes place on the planet of turkeys every year.

This one started on April 012, 12 years after they came to T-Planet. How and why did they started it I sincerely don't know. Every turkey has his/her way of celebrating it.

For the older turkeys Easter is the day their king TeKe was born. They go to their T-church and pray. After midnight they eat special foods like chicken eggs.

For the younger turkeys Easter is a difficult day. It is testing day. They have math tests, spelling tests, LA tests, science tests and, worst of all, they have history tests. All in one day!

It is awful. They return home and go to bed at 4:00 pm sharp. Then the day becomes night and the night becomes day and everything turns backwards.

I don't celebrate Easter neither ways and I think I am lucky. You see, I am not a Christian turkey, I am a Dragon turkey in which case I have to get out of here soon. Christian turkeys hate Dragon turkeys and whenever they see one on the street they execute them so........Goodbye......Ouch!......I think I am dead! They shot meeee......
Turkey Turtle Meeting
Not long after they settled on T-Planet the turkeys discovered that they were not alone. They were attacked by turtles.

But the turtles did not mean to kill them, they were only afraid of other martians. That's all. Soon they became friends with the turkeys.

In May they held a meeting at the TT-base. They had to choose a turtle or a turkey for president. The competitors had to write ideas to make their life better. A Turkey was chosen.

That turkey's name was TeKe Junior. He was the son of TeKe, the turkey king. He was a good president of T-Planet. He solved many problems and made their life easier by creating trumpets.

Today May is a very special month. The turkeys and turtles celebrate on the day their first president was elected through the universal vote. They were very happy the first president was TeKe Junior. He was a good turkey, a clever president and a remarkable sticks player.
June, the Food Month
June 30. Turkeys get ready for the Food Celebration. The whole month of June they work very hard. They have to find new or very, very old recipes and make them for the Food Day, June 30th, when all the turkeys get together and compete for the "Chef of the Year" award.

The traditional judges are their friends, the turtles. Each participant has to make the recipe in the presence of the judges. Then, the competitors have to say something about the history of the recipe. If the recipe is new a joke should be told instead. Then the judges taste the recipes and decide which one is the best. Depending on the recipe, the turkey who makes the best recipe is awareded the "Chef of the Year" award. After that they celebrate and have a good time eating the best recipes of the year.

The Food Day is also celebrated in the family. Each turkey family gets together and the wife makes her best recipes. Usually, turtle friends are invited too. They bring frest ice and lotus flowers for dessert.
Blood Celebration
This celebration started a long, long time ago when the turkeys were at war with the humans.

The turkeys were at war for their lives. Humans used to be their worst enemy. The humans used to celebrate Thanksgiving and they used to kill the turkeys and eat them for dinner. Well, two million years ago this changed. The turkeys won the war.

Every human was killed and.....well, one turkey, son of Drakey and grandson of T-Dracula, was very thursty and drank human blood. He liked it very much and he asked the others to try it. They liked it too. They kept the habit but, unfortunately, no human being lived any longer on the T-Plane.

The next year, in July, they remembered their victory and the blood they drank. The male turkeys went to the winery and had a glass of artificial blood. This is made from blueberries, sugar, hot pepper, and pepperoni sauce. It is served only in July because the anti-blood-drinking movement won an important judicial process and limited the artificial blood's use.
Beach Celebration
This celebration is new to turkeys. It was invented when Rudolph Turkey invented the time machine. This happened five years ago.

It was the end of Summer and everyone was sad. Turkeys love the summer and they wish it would not go. In 8395, trying to keep the Summer from going away, Rudolph Turkey invented the time machine. He tried it in several experiments and it worked incredibly well. In the Winter of 8395 turkey people were buying a lot of time machines. They weren't too expensive and everyone could buy it.

Every year after the Summer is over the turkeys use their time machines and go back to the hottest day of Summer. They have fun. Everyone is on the beach celebrating the day, swimming, eating, drinking and dancing, but at midnight they have to go back. The time machines have their limitations.
T-Christmas in September
T-Christmas in September is actually a children's celebration.

Because the vacation is over and a new year of school starts they can't wait for the Christmas Holidays. They tell everyyone on the street that it's Christmas time and that they want a break.

Their teachers can't stand it anymore and they give a T-Christmas party that goes on for about two or three weeks. Of course the turkey children have lots of homework to do at home because at school they don't play school they play party. But they are happy they celebrate two Christmases.

They have fun so you should try it too. You are going to get presents and lots of homework after school. You might like it.
Hallolloweeween
Hallolloweeween is another celebration that was invented by children from the beginning of the world.

On October 24 they don't have school because all the adult turkeys have to meet some place and discuss adult stuff. Well, the children get bored and to have fun they get together and decide which one of them has to find the place where the adults meet. Each year it is changed. Meanwhile, other children look for scary clothes and at midnight, when the turkey adults sing in choirs, they turn off the lights, make scary sounds and each one of the turkey children appears, destroys a thing and disappears.

The adults get really scared that they don't know what to do. Some pray and at thirteen o'clock the ghosts disappear.

For many years the adults still don't know who the ghosts are or what they want. The adults have a very short memory and they forget that when they were children they used to have fun scaring adults and celebrating Hallolloweeween.
The Sick's S-Christmas
S-Christmas is teh last celebration of the year. It starts on November 14th and ends on December 31st.

Not all turkeys celebrate S-Christmas. Only the ones that believe in Ducks.

S-Christmas is a weird celebration. It's honored by the Sick Turkeys who believe that the Ducks save their lives when they are in trouble. The Ducks are considered to be the sick turkey's guardian angels. You should realize that Ducks are imaginary spirits in the sick turkey's mythology.

From the middle of November to the end of December the sick turkeys exchange presents and thank their ducks for caring about them.
