THE HISTORY OF VALENTINE'S DAY
heart At one time, people believed that birds, especially Lovebirds, mated on February 14.
heart In Ancient Rome, the festival of the Lupercalia was celebrated on February 15; the festival honored two Roman gods, Juno and Pan, and involved fertility rites.
heart Today, we celebrate St. Valentine's Day by exchanging cards and gifts with loved ones, good friends and family.  We celebrate on February 14th.

heart Our celebration of St. Valentine's Day probably dates back to the 14th century, when young people would get together on St. Valentine's Eve.  Each person would draw a name from a valentine box, and would become the "valentine" of the one whose name they drew.

heart The holiday has apparently no connection with the two martyred St. Valentine's of 3rd century Rome, except for the fact that their feast days are also celebrated on February 14.
