Beanie Baby Glossary

Here are the definitions of some words that you might not know:

Old face: The old style of a teddy's face. Often compared to "Winnie the Pooh," the eyes are outside the nose lines.

New face: The newer style of a teddy's face. The eyes are on the inside of the nose lines.

Hang tags: The heart shaped tag. See Know Your Hang Tags.

Tush Tags: The tags on the tush of Beanie Babies.

Original Nine: The original 9 Beanie Babies. Chocolate the Moose, Pinchers the Lobster, Spot the Dog, Squealer the Pig, Cubbie the Bear, Patti the Platypus, Splash the Whale, Legs the Frog, and Flash the Dolphin.

Retirement: A Beanie is retired when it is put out of production. The value goes up, and it becomes hard to find.

Current: A Beanie that Ty is currently producing, and shipping to stores.

Hard to Find: A Beanie that is currently being produced, but is difficult to find, causing it's value to go up. Examples: Princess, Peace.

Canadian Tag: A second tush tag on Beanies from Canada. It is a requirement by law that it is there, in order to ship it into the US. Some collectors will pay a little more for a Beanie with a Canadian tag.

American Trio: The trio consists of Righty the Elephant, Lefty the Donkey and Libearty the bear.

Dino Trio: The trio of dinosaurs, all retired: Rex the Tyranosaurus, Bronty the Brontasaurus and Steg the Stegasaurus.

Mint in Bag: A Teenie Beanie (from McDonalds) that has both tags and is unopened, in it's bag.

Mint with Both Tagsor, Mint with Both Mint TagsBeanies that are just like new with both tags.

Mistags or Mistakes:There are a lot of Mistagged Beanies out there. Some with the wrong tush tags, like Waves with Echo's tag, or a mistake on the hang tag, like in Chocolate's poem "rnoose" instead of "moose." While a mistake does not actually make the value go up, it is a fun Beanie to add to your collection, and some collectors will pay more for a mistagged Beanie.

Teenies: Starting April 11, 1997, McDonalds launched a Beanie Baby campaign of Teenie Beanie Babies. They released 10 Teenies: Patti, Pinky, Chocolate, Goldie, Lizz (Lizzy), Quacks (Quackers), Seamore, Chops, Speedy and Snort.



Abbreviations:
BB: Beanie Baby.

TBB:Teenie Beanie Baby.

MIB: Mint in Bag.

MWBT: Mint with Both Tags.

MWBMT: Mint with Both Mint Tags.

OF: Old Face.

NF: New Face.

R: Retired.

C: Current.

HTF: Hard to Find.
