I am 12 years old, my birthday is May 11,
1994. I live with my mom and 10 year old brother and 1
dog in San Jose, California. I have Rett Syndrome, so there are a
lot of things that I can't do, but there are a lot of things that I can
do. My parents, tutors, and school have been working really hard to
help me learn to do a lot of things for myself. I can't talk, but
I'm learning other ways to communicate: by pointing, and by exchanging
objects that represent the things I want for the
real
thing.
I am able to walk, and I am learning to dress myself with a little help, and to feed myself with a little help and I'm learning to follow some instructions that my parents want me to know like: sit down, stand up, come here, give me [whatever], and other helpful stuff like that. Almost everything I've learned has been with a method called Discrete Trial Teaching.

Aside from working hard a lot of the time, which sometimes I mind, and sometimes I don't mind, some of my favorite things are: music -- I LOVE music!!, and eating -- I LOVE to eat!!, and I like music videos and musical toys, and I like just being with the people I love, my family and all my therapists.
