This year's regatta was held at Tallawarra Power Station, Lake Illawarra. In case you hadn't guessed, the theme was Flower Power. And as a special treat, it was organised by Ark Royal Rangers. (ie they were conned into organising it).

Well, I've been very busy, and you can access the overall results and the results for each race.

I can't speak for everyone, but I had fun at the Regatta (in betwen all the worry). Admittedly, it did rain as the Raft Race started, and the tents were half down. And the water was a bit shallow (so shallow one of Mangerton's Ranger Guides ended up walking her kayak out to the buoy and back. But the walk (or drive) between the campsite and the shore was great exercise, and I'm pretty sure everyone managed to take some Lake Illawarra mud back home with them. I know not many of the relevant people will read this, but we'd (Ark Royal and Mangerton)like to say thanks to all the people who helped make the weekend a 'success'. I'd run out of space on this site if I named them all, so a general thanks will have to do. The only question remaining is, "Where will the Regatta be next year?" Well, we're going to have to wait and find out.

So, what is a Regatta?

A Regatta is: "an organised series of boat or yacht races, forming a more or less sporting and social event". For NSW Guides aged between 14 to 30, a Regatta also means a chance to make a lot of noise, eat lots of junk food, and have tonnes of fun!

Each March units from around NSW will have a weekend camp, where the main activities are water-based. There will be heaps of races throughout the weekend, but the points don't really matter that much (especially if your pointscore at the end was as sad as ours last year). There are land events as well, such as first aid, treasure hunts, and (this year) a Todd River race.

Past Regattas have been held at:
The Basin
Wallerawang
Nord's Wharf
Narrabeen Lakes
and other places, that I can't remember right now.

Check out photos from previous Regattas. I'm still working on photos from this year's. If you have any photos you think would be good to add, email me
