Welcome to Andrew’s Collectables Web Pages.

“Andrew’s Corner” I was asked recently about future collecting, what to start to collect now that will hold its value in 20 years time. Well, thats got me thinking, I've got a few items on the web site which are worth collecting, all items listed are worth collecting, some have short term gains, while others only realise a long term gain after many years of collecting.

First off, trading cards will be around for a while yet, Base Ball cards in the US are always the go. One thing to understand about Trading Cards in general is that the companies that are producing the cards now days create inflated prices by producing "rare" cards in a set.

IE, say you were to produce a "Star Trek" set, you want to include a photo of all the characters from the original series, Kirk, Spock, etc.

Now instead of printing 10,000 of each of the cards, you on print (say) 50 Kirks, 50 Spocks, 200 Mc Coys, 500 Scotty, 1,000 Uhura, 2,500 Checkovs, 5,000 Sulus, then 10,000 Janice Rands, 10,000 Enterprise etc etc...

When you purchase a foil packet, you may get two Janice Rands, three Enterprises and one Checkov.

But no Kirk, Spock etc etc.

So some people will buy a "box" of trading cards, open all the packets, then get the good cards and dump (or sell very cheaply) all the rubbish.

Collectables take all shapes and sizes. Coca Cola products, mainly the yo-yo, Glass Bottles (Either Empty or Full) - not plastic bottles (They degrade). Some people will collect anything with the brand name coca cola on it.

In fairness, the Pepsi brand name is sometimes worth more because Pepsi almost never allows their brand name to be placed on anything.

Coins and Stamps. Stamps are a tricky one which a lot of people are gradually drifting away from, while coins are good.

Walk into a Bank, and ask for the new US $1 coin, put them away some place and ensure they don't get handled too much. I saw a coin shop in Seattle which was selling the new $1 coin for $3.00 even though you can walk into the bank and "buy" them.

Movie posters, number plates, art (paintings, statues etc)

I hope this is of some help, email me if you have any enquiries or would like more information on a listed item.

Good news, Buffy the Vampire Slayer cards are the hottest thing out! They have become extremely rare - all shops seem to have sold out.
