He looked at me with a twinkle in his eye and very seriously said, "My lungs are close to my heart, Momma." This is the same child that took money he had earned and purchased a pair of wrestling shoes for a team-mate. His friend was living in a children's home and had been wrestling in his tennis shoes. The day the team went to it's first match the little boy didn't have a pair of wrestling shoes. So this child didn't feel out of place, my child took him aside and purchased the shoes for him. This is the child that doesn't just give a "homeless" person spare change, but gives them enough to purchase a meal. The child that always brings home stray animals, because they need to have something to eat. The child that found a baby bird who had fallen out of it's nest and nursed it to adult-hood. Does he know what is close to his heart? You bet he does. I shall not have lived in vain; If I can ease one life the aching, Or cool one pain, Or help one fainting robin Unto his nest again, I shall not have lived in vain. ~*~*~Emily Dickinson~*~*~ |
