The troupe was formed in September 1990, starting from scratch with no girls, no equipment and no assets. Since then our membership has grown steadily and currently comprises of about 80 girls aged from 4 to 18 years. Membership of our troupe provides girls with an interesting hobby which enables them to learn a new skill involving a high degree of co-ordination, fitness, concentration, confidence and, perhaps most importantly, discipline and teamwork. They also have the opportunity to make new freinds and make a very worthwhile contribution to the local community.
During the Spring and Summer we perform nearly every weekend at competitions throughout Merseyside, Lancashire and North Wales. We are a highly successful troupe, having over the years won many competitions and championships. Our competition season usually ends in mid October. New girls may join and the troupes are reformed and practise throughout the Winter for their new routines for the following season.
In addition to our competion successes, we aim to perform as often as possible, free of charge, at charitable fund raising events. In the last few years we have helped to raise funds for Wirral Lions, Wirral Society for the Blind and Partially Sighted, Multiple Sclerosis, Cancer Research, Claire House, Clatterbridge Hospital, Guide Dogs for the Blind, Lee Caldicott and Owen Morton. In addition we have performed at Alder Hey Hospital and several retirement and nursing homes as well as local schools and churches.
