Institut Hospitaliti YPJ (Reg. Under Tourism Dept #KKKKP/PL/ILP 0050 & Jab. Pendidikan Swasta Ref. No SRJ925) is a member college of Kumpulan Pendidikan YPJ(KPYPJ), a group widely recognized as a second chance training provider for school leavers throughout Johor and the Southern Region of Malaysia. IHYPJ is specialised in the hospitality and culinary training mainly to cater for the hotel skills requirement.

Established on February 16, 1998 with only 64 students known as the 'Perintis 64', its pioneer batch of students is now in the fourth semester and are expected to complete their diploma studies in 2001. Within a year, IHYPJ has experienced a termendous change in terms of its physical development, training, infrastructure, as well as curriculum development. It was created to fit the necessary needs of the hotel requirement and the market demand in the hospitality training.

With only two unit of shoplots and restricted facility, IHYPJ has now expanded to ten shoplots complete with seminar rooms, classrooms, F&B facilities, kitchen facilities, mock up hotel and resort together with student's hostel. With these facilities, IHYPJ is ready to take the challenge to fill the gap within in the labor demand of the hospitality industry. IHYPJ is aiming a target of 1,000 students simultaneously at one time in the coming years.

ACCREDITATION AND RECOGNITION

In 2003, both diploma programs, Diploma in Hotel Managemet (Hospitality) and Diploma in Fooservice and Culinary were accredited by the National Accreditation Board or Lembaga Akreditasi Negara (LAN) . In a letter dated January 7, 2004, both diploma programs have been recognized by the Public Services Department or Jabatan Perkhidmatan Awam (JPA) as "equal to the level of diploma produced by public universities and entitled for recruitment in public services.
