"Michaela? Are ya awake?" Sully wispered to his wife one night. "Yes, Sully, I just closed my eyes. Is something wrong?" She asked as she sat up in bed and stroked her very swollen belly. She was almost 6 months pregnant. "No, I was just wonderin' if we could talk. We haven't talked much about names or anything!" Sully started to tell his wife as he rubbed her belly with the side of his hand. "I know. I guess we really should, but we can do that some other time. What else is on your mind? Names can wait, but I can tell something else is on your mind." Michaela placed her hand on his face and stared into his deep blue eyes. "You know me so well Michaela. Yes, there is something I wanna talk to ya about," Sully sighed. "Well you know that I was with ya when ya had Katie, but I didn't have much choice." He gave her a smile. Michaela smiled back as she remembered that day. "And I'm glad you were. I couldn't think of anyone better to bring our daughter into the world." "Well, ya know this time, you probably, HOPEFULLY, are gonna make it to the clinic. But, I don't think I could stand waiting outside when I know what ya are goin through. I was wonderin if I could come in and be with you." Sully pleaded. "Oh of course, Sully! I wouldn't want to be in there without you! I can't believe I didn't think of that! I want you there with me. You always know how to keep my spirits up, and without you I wouldn't be able to make it through!" Michaela exclaimed. Sully gave her a smile and kissed her. "Thank you, Michaela." "No, Sully, Thank you." She replied. "Here, give me your hand," Michaela quickly instructed Sully. He gave her his hand. She placed his hand on one side of her belly and held it there. Michaela looked up to see Sully's expression. It went from confused, to stunded, to overjoyed. "Michaela? Is that.." Sully began but couldn't spit out the words. "That's a kick. That's OUR baby Sully! Can you believe it? And it will be here in three months!" She said with a smile. "I know. Everyone is so excited. We are so blessed Michaela. I'm so happy, I don't think anything could take it away." "Would you like to hear the heartbeat?"Michaela asked him. "Of course!" Sully replied as Michaela grabbed her stethescope and placed the earpiece in her ear. She took the bottom and put it on her belly moving it around until she found what she wanted. She quickly handed the earpieces to Sully. He grabbed them as Michaela held the bottom to her belly. His eyes grew huge with amazement. He gave Michaela a smile and took the earpiece out of his ears. "I can't believe there's apart of me and you in there!" He said with love. "Neither can I Sully! But it makes me happy to know that a part of you is in me right now. It's a symbol of how much we love each other, which makes it extra special." She told him. "Well, I think that's enough excitement for one night. We both need some sleep. Good night, Michaela. I love ya." Sully said as he kissed her goodnight. "Good night little one, be good now and get some sleep, don't keep you're ma up!" He informed the baby as he talked into Michaela's stomach. "Goodnight, Sully. I love you too," She returned the kiss and layed down. Sully put his arms around her and they hugged each other close, falling asleep in each others arms. The next few weeks went fast for the Sully's. Michaela and Colleen were busy at the clinic, while Sully helped Robert E. and surveyed some lands for Wendland Smith. He was only gone for a couple days, but Michaela was already missing him. She knew this was the best thing. He would only be gone for a week, but it seemed like an eternity. "Dr. Mike, it's time to finish. It's three o'clock," Matthew told her as he walked into the clinic. "I know, Matthew. I'm done. Thank you for telling me," She got up out of the chair with a little difficulty. Matthew held out her coat and helped her slip it on her back. They both started to walk out the door when Michaela felt a little light headed and grabbed onto Matthew. "Dr Mike? Are you alright?" Matthew asked alarmed. "Yes, Matthew, I'm fine. I'm just a little dizzy." She informed him. "Here come and sit down for a little bit. I don't want ya to get hurt," Matthew told his ma sincerely. "Thank you Matthew you. I will be ok in a little bit. I just have to get up a little slower." Michaela said. It wasn't normal for her to get dizzy, especially this late in the pregnancy, but she tried to hide her alarm from Matthew. She didn't want to worry him. "Here, I will go get Colleen. Maybe she can give you something. You shouldn't be gettin dizzy," and with that he ran out the door to find Colleen. In a matter of a few seconds Matthew came walking in with Colleen close behind him. "Ma, are you alright? Matthew said you got dizzy." Colleen said worried. "Yes, but it's better now, really," She started to stand up again but this time everything went black and she started to fall. Matthew saw this and immediately caught his ma. "Ma!" Colleen exclaimed. "Matthew let's take her upstairs. Then can you tell Brian to take Katie home and watch her, and on your way go and get Andrew!" As soon as they got Michaela into the recovery room Matthew bolted down the stairs to get Andrew. "Come on Ma, wake up. You gotta wake up Ma!" Colleen wispered with tears falling down her cheeks. "Colleen??!" Andrew yelled. "Up here, Andrew, it's ma!" She yelled down to Andrew. He came running up the stairs. "What's wrong? What happened?" He asked quickly. CONTINUED |
