Deck Building Tips When and if you want to build a new deck you should know these things Concentrate on making your deck out of one or two types of energy. Put some strong basic pokémon in your deck so you have a good foot-hold once the game starts. Make sure you put in some evolved forms of your Pokémon, just basic Pokémon won't hold out in a battle. The main tip for deck building is to try out your new deck against other players. Find out what works and what doesn't work and make changes accordingly. Once you've built your master deck you should be able to take on any challenge. You can move on by battling other trainers at Pokémon conventions, building a new deck using different types of energy, or collecting the Pokémon cards you don't have. If you don't want to go looking for cards just buy a theme deck(the best one is Brushfire). Main Deck Building Tip The most important deck building tip is this: If you build a deck using two kinds of energy, pick two kinds that compensate for eachothers weaknesses. Fire Pokémon are weak against water, so put in some other type as long as it doesn't have a weakness to water. This way if your opponent plays a water Pokémon and you have a fire one out, switch it with one of your other types. This is very good strategy since a Pokémon suffers double damage if attacked by a Pokémon that it is weak against.
