Description: Students will write an obituary for a folktale
character.

Outcomes: CA Standard: Writing Strategies
and Applications 1.0, 2.0
Students will:
- Choose a character from one of the folktales
they have read.
- Write an essay about the character as
though the character had passed away.
- Use details to describe the life of the
character. The details should be loosely based on the folktale
and embelished on by the student. For instance, use a quote from
another character in the folktale expressing their opinion on
the dead character.
- Publish online in the Folktale Gazette.
