Folktale Word Search
Lesson 6

Description: Students will make a word search puzzle with words found in a folktale of their choice.

Outcomes: CA Standard: 2.0 Reading Comprehension
Students will: 

  1. Make a list of words relating to a folktale.
  2. Go to a Web Authoring Program (ie. geocities, ClarisWorks Homepage, Adobe PageMill).
  3. Write the word list.
  4. Set up a table 10 by 10 to 20 by 20. All letters must be capitalized. One letter per box.
  5. Print in words. Check and recheck spelling.
  6. Fill in the other letters.
  7. Print out and give to a friend to see if they can find your words.
  8. Send to The Folktale Gazette.
Subject Areas: Reading
Grade Level Ranges: 6th through 8th grades
Materials: Computers, printer, pencils

Off-line Activities:   Students find words in word searches.
Online Activities: Set up a word search.

Description of Collaborative Activities: Students can work in groups finding words in word searches.
 Assessment: Students correctly fill in the Crossword puzzle
