A little about Me

I am the mother of 3 boys.  Men really...Now!  We live just North of Seattle Washington.  I've been an artist most of my life. Since 1986, I have worked mostly with clay.  I also enjoy playing the guitar, beading, weaving, knitting, crochet and about every other craft that there is. For many years, I designed computer graphics for a small Company. So, you see, I'm not afraid to try something NEW.

The two older boys (Jerico and Wyatt) were not homeschooled but I always managed to help them.  When it became Marshalls turn at school it was made apparent that he needed more help then the teachers had time for.  I figured, I couldn't mess him up anymore than the school system, so, I pulled him out of the 4th grade.

That was 1991 and we certainly have learned alot. I never realized when we started ..with all the crying and screaming(ME!) how much we'd grow to love homeschooling. I never knew I could be so organized and creative!  I never knew that I would wind up with a love of history that was my #1 worst class in Public School, but I did.

We never realized when we started that I was going to have to start from square one.  The child could not read! Five years in public school and he could barely get through easy readers. I had alot of help from a wonderful lady, Timmi Jo Forbes.  She is a Slingerland Teacher.  Thats a special program for dyslexics.  Its works wonderfully.  She had him reading up to grade level within a few months.  It was amazing.

He and I took alot of classes together. Irish (gaelic) was the language he chose to study. He tried fencing but when the class was canceled he moved on to Tae Kwon do.  We both stuck with that for over two years.

We found out while studing Medieval history that we love Medieval faires. Going is the highlight of our year.  Marshall made his own cloak and worked on his shirt, that you will see in the photo gallery.  We still go to alot of fairs every year.

He graduated at the state convention in 1999. He went to Edmonds Community College for his A+ computer certification class and  Network + . Jobs in the Computer field are hard to come by.  But, he has managed to have a few building systems for the Navy(a temp job) and working at Pogo-Linux building servers

In the years 2000 and 2001, it seems like I'm not done. Marie (the girl next door) has asked me to homeschool her.  You can see her in alot of the pictures in the gallery. I really only plan to work with her this year. She and I are learning all there is to know about making soaps and lotions. Its been very interesting and somewhat frustrating. We now have more lotion then we can use...theres only so much slathering up a body can take...BUT WE'RE VERY SOFT!!
