Drama and Speech!

I enjoy drama, and I am a proud member of the NFL (National Forensic League) and my school's Speech and Debate Team. I enjoy both because I can get up in front of people and do weird things.
Acting is great because it lets you get to know the people you act with better, and everyone has fun. As you work on different characters, you can get into their minds and see the world differently. Also, you have the challenge of pulling off a big show and entertaining the audience.
Speaking is wonderful because you can express YOURSELF. In interpretive events, you can pick exactly what pieces you want to use, and you can cut them yourself; in original events, there's much more lattitude because you write every single word of what you say.

In speech, my favorite events are Expository (expos), where you explain a topic using visual aids, and Original Prose and Poetry (OPP), which can whatever you want. I also enjoy Student Congress, where different bills and resolutions are debated as if we are really legislators. This next year I'll do Mock Trial, for which each school sets up a prosecuting and defending side for one case that is argued through the entire year. I'm also looking into Model United Nations, which my school doesn't have (yet).
