Fussy Baby and HIgh Need
Child. The previous book was The Fussy Baby. FROM Jane:
Ruth Beechick has a very good book:
Teaching Kindergartners - How to Understand and Instruct
Fours and Fives.
She talks a lot about salvation in her book as well as
other topics and
what to expect from this age. I got it from Great
Christian Books
(paperback - $7.95) and it has been very helpful to me.
Some topics: trinity, right and wrong, salvation, death -
also art,
music, and games for these kids.
I think she has a book on pre-schoolers (2s and 3s) as
well. Our
homeschool library had that one. I have her book on
Teaching Primaries
- Understanding How they Think and How they Learn but I
haven't read that
one yet (I have a couple of years before I need it !).
Home Grown Kids by Raymond and Dorothy Moore(or any of their
other books as well!)
Homeschooling For Excellence by David and Micki Colfax
The Way They Learn by Cynthia Ulrich Tobias (she also has a
tape...I got both of these from Focus on the family).
Even though I've homeschooled for 1 1/2 years this
book taught me a lot about different types of homeschooling
and shared lots
of neat quotes from people who homeschool telling how they
do it--really
fun to hear new ideas and inspiring too!This would be a
great book for any
interested in homeschooling. The last couple chapters
share tons of
resources from internet to curriculum.

called Lakeshore Learning

packed with the neatest
"learning tools" for kids. Some stuff is really expensive
and some stuff is
not but it is a very neat catalog. I'm definitely going to
be ordering
some stuff real soon !!!

This is a great catalog of educational materials - seemed to be mostly
science oriented. I remember an extensive selection of robotics kits and

If you would like to keep things laid back some, you
could try a program like Five in a Row

Five In A Row is a neat unit study curriculum. I'm considering using it with my little guy when he gets older. You read a book for five days in a row, hence the title, and do activities related to the book. Most of the books will be available at the library.
Teach Your Child To Read In 100 Easy Lessons was originally a public school phonics program called Distar. Everything is lined out for you in the book, including what you say. I have heard really good things about it from my friends who have used it.

Young Adults (C-HEYA) is an open
forum for parents interested in discussing the issues surrounding
educating their children at home during what would be their junior high
(middle school),and senior high years. The emphasis here is on issues of curriculum, methodology, college and career preparation, general educational philosophy, development of Christian character, resources, and mutual support --all in particular relation to the secondary school ages. She hasn't come out and actually said that she was Christian, but with that much wisdom, grace, compassion for children... something's up .... She has a master degree in Educational Therapy.
