 Using NetOp

NetOp is a software program that allows the teacher to have control of the students’ computers for monitoring, sharing documents, giving demonstrations, etc.

 

Starting NetOp

  1. Double click on the “Teacher” icon to open the program.
  2. Check to see if all the computers are available.  (If not, you may need to re-boot some of the computers.  Look for the missing numbers on the list of computers to see which ones are not available.)

Using the Commands

Give Demo - allows the selected computers to see what is on the teacher computer.

  1. Select the computers you wish to give the demonstration on or Select All to give the demonstration on all the available computers.
  2. Click on Give Demo.
  3. Then use the teacher’s computer to ‘show’ the students the demonstration.

 

Run Program – allows the teacher to start a program on all the selected computers. *Great for starting Internet Explorer without having to type the password on each computer.

  1. Select the computers and click on Run Program.
  2. Click Browse on the pop-up menu.
  3. Click the down arrow to find the C: drive and click on it.
  4. Scroll to find Program Files and double click.
  5. Find the program file you wish to open and double click on the folder.
  6. Double click on the program icon.
  7. Click Ok on the pop-up menu.

 

Chat – good for private messages to students, but don’t let it replace walking around.

  1. Select the computer and click Chat.
  2. Type the message and click Send Line.
  3. Click End Chat to stop the chat.

 

Monitor Students – great to use with the TV to keep an eye on what your students are doing, but you should still be walking around.

  1. Select the computers and click Monitor Students.  The screen will rotate every few seconds.
  2. Click Stop on the pop-up box to end the monitoring.

 

Attention – get your students attention quickly!

  1. Select the computers and click Attention.  A screen will appear on the computers and the students will no longer have control of the computer.
  2. Click the Attention icon again to return computers to the students’ control.

 

Remote Control – allows the teacher to control another computer from the teacher’s computer.

  1. Select the computer and click Remote Control.
  2. Click Ok on the pop-up menu.
  3. Now you have control…do what you need to do.
  4. Click the ‘X’ to end.

 

File Transfer – allows you to transfer files from computer to computer.

  1. Select the computers and click File Transfer.
  2. Click Ok on the pop-up menu.
  3. On the File Transfer box, click Browse to find the file to be transferred.
  4. Then click Browse to find where to save the file.
  5. Click Ok.
  6. Click Close.
