Course Description: This course studies the ethics, philosophy and laws related to pharmacy and safe and accurate use and distribution of medications. This includes the requirements, administration, and enforcement of local, state, and federal laws, rules and regulations governing the pharmacy profession.

 

Required Texts:

(1) Supplementary Materials Printed by University. You can use a copy of the material from a student who just took the class the spring of 1999. I don’t know if the bookstore as any copies left over from the spring semester. If not you should be able to print it out from the website. However its quite lengthy.

 

Additional Materials: Students are responsible for getting copies of handouts from other students if you are not in class when they are distributed.

 

Grading: Grades will be based on class participation, attendance, assignments and test and or quiz scores.

 

Office Hours: By appointment.

 

Exams: At this time, I do not plan on giving a midterm or comprehensive final exam. However stay tuned, as I may change my mind based on attendance and class participation.

 

Quizzes: No unannounced quizzes are planned at this time.

 

Attendance Policy: Regular classroom attendance is necessary for academic success and preparation for employment. Students are expected to attend class and take notes. Note taking in this class is very important. Since class participation is part of your grade it is necessary for you to attend class. Please notify me in advance by e-mail if you cannot attend class.

Since I am only at the university on the day of class, it will be impossible to contact me at the College of Pharmacy by phone. Feel free to contact me at home (Please phone at reasonable hours). Naturally, you can fax or e-mail me anytime

The following is a tentative class and topic schedule for the summer session. It is subject to change. We may move through the material at a faster or slower pace than the schedule indicates.
