Ralph's Personal Data

I see that you've decided to find out more about the person behind the this webpage... I'm flattered :-).

The information you'll find on this page includes but is not limited to: bigraphical data about me and my family, hobbies and, at some point, the obligatory resume. I'll try to be brief in every area so as not to bore you however, if there's any area that you think needs to be fleshed out, you're welcome to but in a request for a revision.

I apologize for the sometimes, stiff, formal, writing style. It can probably be attributed to the many years I've spent working in the computer industry. I'll try to losen up a bit :-).

To save you a little time and to allow you to locate areas of this page that might interest you, I've included an index of links to topics on this page.

As I mentioned in the main page, I was born and raised in Alexandria, Louisiana, USA, where I lived until leaving to join the U.S. Army in 1974. I attended a Catholic elementary school, Saint Rita's, from 1962 to graduation in 1970. I went on to Bolton High School in 1970 and graduated in 1974. I had a small circle of close, personal friends and life, as in most small, American towns, was relatively uneventful.

In 1974 I joined the U.S. Army to become a Computer Maintenance Specialist. My duty stations included Fort Polk, LA, Fort Monmouth, NJ, Fort Gordon, GA and Fort Bragg, NC. I left the service with an honorable discharge in 1977 to persue life as a civilian.

I moved to Escondido, California (North San Diego County) in 1977 to work for NCR Corporation as an Electronics Technician. It was while working there that I met and married Sharon Ann Nolan. I continued working for NCR in various positions, Programmer Technician, Engineering Technician until 1987. During that time (1978-1981) I attended Palomar Junior College parttime persuing an associate degree in Computer Science.

The bulk of my professional career in Southern California was spent at NCR. After that, I worked for the Computer Systems Division of Gould Electronics, Technology Development Corporation and Micro Interface Corporation all three of which went out of business or closed the facility where I worked - a horrendous run of bad luck,... Really :-). In 1992 I landed a six-month, temporary position as a Network Support Specialist at the Poway Unified School District. Unable to convert the position at PUSD to permenant, fulltime, I secured a position with Fluid Components International as a Local Area Network (LAN) Administrator. I continued to work at FCI until May, 1994. Though my family and I enjoyed many aspects of life in Southern California, we took advantage of an opportunity to relocate to Omaha, Nebraska, my wife's hometown, where I now work for First Data Solutions, a division of First Data Corporation as a LAN Administrator.

That brings you up to date on my work history. I'll include a link to my resume (if I ever get it updated :-) for anyone wanting more detail. Please continue reading or use the links below to return to the index or the top of this page.
