Have you heard of Metacrawler? It’s a great search engine that combines about six other search engines to do one big sweep of the net. Another fun way to keep in touch is with ICQ  (remember: "I seek you")   On downloading the program, you also get your unique ICQ number, which you can then give to your friends.  My ICQ number is 2225010.  The main point of it all is that if you are on the net, and your friend(s) elswhere in the world is(are) also on the net, the system (unless they are in 'Invisible' mode) will show you who (in your circle of registered friends) is on.
                  
  

The best place to get ICQ from (for free) is TUCOWS.  TUCOWS is a really neat collection of software that's free, shareware or purchasable.  The Ultimate Collection Of Winsock Software.  It's a nice place, it has mirror sites all around the world.
