ELIZABETHAN BLACKWORK

This set of designs is a collection of traditional stitches adapted from embroidery samplers from 16th century found in the various museums around the world, or adapted from old paintings of old masters who painted the nobility in those times.





2 Motifs from Jane Bostocke's Sampler (1598)
These designs are variation on the designs from Jane Bostocke's sampler. This is believed to be the oldest surviving English sampler. dated 1598- in the collection of the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.

This set also available in longer pieces for Designer1
or to fit 4"hoop .

Borders with Acorn Motif


Traditionaly done in black silk thread on white linen,
these designs looked absolutely stunning. (Still do)
You can experiment with other colors as well. Try variegated threads for completely unique look.
