Goals

One of my goals that I have kept since I was in the sixth grade, is to one day be able to see the pyrimids of Giza in Egypt. Honestly I don't know what got me interested in it, but it's now my dream to see them. I am trying to major in criminal justice, which means I am going to be in law enforcement. I would like to start off as a peace officer and then maybe in 4 yrs I would like to transfer to the FBI(which is my goal in life).I was part of a great program back in April of 2000 as a Police explorer. It is a great program for anyone who is between the ages of 15-21 and are interested in law enforcement. The program gave me an inside look at police work, which also made me actually decide whether or not it was the right career for me. The main reason I chose law enforcement as a career was to be a positve latina role model. I also want a job where everyday will be different and unexpected. Many people have negitive views towards law enforcement, so I want to be able to change peoples' views, it will be hard to do but you have to start some where. When people comment about hating the police, I usually say to them, "when you are in trouble or your family or a loved one is in danger...who is the first you call for help?" I know there is some "bad" ones out there but a lot are out to help people and doing good in thier communities. To me I see police officers as brave men and women who work hard and risk thier lives daily to help and protect others. I had found this article that was very interesting and true. Hopefully you will think the same as me. It was in fugitivewatch newspaper for the month of August 1999
