IPON

INTERDISCIPLINARY PROJECT OF NEUROTERATOLOGY

The IPON project was created at 1991, in the Laboratories of Cell Biology, School of Natural Sciences, University of Buenos Aires. This project was established to form a scientific group with experience and capacity to study some problematics fact of the Argentina's reality. The IPON project resumes this experience and then expands it to resolve problems that appears with the teory's research and that done experimentally. Those problems usually were derived from the use of pharmacologicals agents, as for example the determination of the incidency of teratologic effects derived from the obligated use of pharmacologicals agents during the pregnancy. In addition, we try to design specifics test to detect early teratologic effects of those agents administered early in the pregnancy, and with relevancy pre and or postnatally. In this way, we can focuses similar problems derived from the uses of food additives, pesticides and others contaminants.
The activities in the populational level includes the evaluation of the mental capacity of infant groups in risk because their exposition to enviromental agents that permit us to suppose cognitive deficits in those populations. This types of cognitive deficits could be reflected as a behavioral problem.
