Tools & Guidelines for Image Collectors

ACDSee Classic

For viewing images, nothing... absolutely nothing is faster. The 'classic' version is the fastest as later versions include functionality that slows it down. It also makes index pages. Get it here: ACDSee Systems

D'Peg

A duplicate image finder, D'Peg is a blast to use since the author has a terrific sense of humour. If you download images, you'll wind up with lots of duplicates with different names. This thing finds them all. Get it here: Somewareonthe.net

Guidelines

If you've been collecting pictures for a while, you'll end up with numerous versions of the same image in different sizes and with different names. Many people like to rename files to fit in with their 'system'. They then post these in various forums which adds to the confusion. The different sizes come from people saving files improperly which degrades the quality. Yahoo groups has caused a flurry of resized images.

In order to prevent this, please don't post images to Yahoo. Attach them to your message instead. Also, please don't rename the files you download. Most good binary groups have a naming convention agreed upon by the posters and collectors. Since I am the only one posting Brides, I've taken it upon myself to be the 'authority' for these images. I ALLWAYS leave the names alone! The only renaming I will do is if I find a fill to a set which has a different name. I will rename it to fit in with the rest. I also keep only the best quality version of any image. By downloading my posts in ABPEU, your assured of getting the best version of any image.
