Miscellaneous Pictures - 2008

Here are some random shots taken in 2008.

By the time early Spring rolls around, we are usually pretty much ready for Winter to be outta here! We have tried to get out of Ohio at some point during the Winter and if not, then we definitely go somewhere for Spring Break. In 2008, we headed to Washington D.C. to hit the end of the cherry blossom blooming and see some of the cherry blossom festival. We went to the air and space museum, the new spy museum, ate great food, and walked around the events at the cherry blossom festival. It was a great getaway.

One of the highlights of the cherry blossom festival was this street parade. Here is a local group with some blow-up cherry blossoms. It was a blustery day, so these guys had to really work to keep these balloons from being blown away!

Of course you can't really claim to have gone to D.C. without getting a shot on the Mall with the Washington Monument in the background - here's ours!

The girls REALLY enjoyed riding on the Metro! Here they are pretending they are going WAY fast!

This is a shot of the attendees at Sophie's 7th birthday party. If you can't find Sophie, she is in the middle of the couch hugging her new stuffed animals.

It's amazing how quickly the years roll by, isn't it? Here is another birthday party - this one for Sarah's 10th birthday!

Here are the girls enjoying themselves on a night hot day in late spring on their slip-an-slide!

We are SO proud of Sarah! She got straight A's for her 4th grade year! She even got a presidential honor (which Steve has in his hand) for academic excellence! She's one smart cookie!

Here is one of the few shots of the whole family (except Claudia who is taking the picture!). Claudia's parents (Ed and Barbara) are on the left and Steve's mother and step-father (Connie and Barry) are on the right. Steve's mom broke her ankle, and thus is on crutches. Later in 2008, Connie and Barry bought a house in Wisconsin and are now in the process of moving there to be near Steve's sister, Lisa. Connie and Barry will be missed by all of us!

This summer, both girls were involved with a theater class. Sarah was cast as Wilbur in Charlotte's web. She did a GREAT job! I guess she is a natural born actress!

One of the most pleasant activities we have at the Weeks/Weil household is just hanging out at home and having a BBQ! We have a great screened-in porch and a nice little deck. This is a shot of the back of our house with Sarah and Sophie "being silly" on the deck while Steve is hard at work grillin'!

One of the cool things about Ohio is the number of outdoor activities that go on in the summer. This is a shot of Steve and the girls being silly after a fun summer day. They went to the "hamburger festival" in downtown Akron, and then went on to see Journey to the Center of the Earth in 3-D at a local cinema (note the lovely 3-D glasses they are all sporting!). Fun was had by one and all!

Another outdoor activity common in Ohio is the fair. Ya gotta love the fair: greasy food, kooky games you are bound to lose, and shaky rides that you may or may not survive! What could be better? This is a shot of the girls and Claudia on one of them lovely "spin you around and toss you up and down" rides. Steve has now decided that any "spin you around" rides are just not worth it! He invariably feels ill afterwards, so why even bother? The women-folk disagree, as you can clearly see here!
