INTRODUCTION

As a child my Mom lived in Poughkeepsie Rural Cemetery in a house on the grounds where my grandfather was a gardener and caretaker. I would often listen to her stories of growing up there! One of which included the story of my Uncle being born in the house in the cemetery in which they lived.

It was my Mom who taught me that there was nothing to be afraid of in Cemeteries as no one there was going to hurt me. If there was anyone I should be afraid of, it might be those that were alive and kicking.

Sooooooo, I guess you might say Cemeteries are in my blood. I hope that as you meander through this page you find some useful information in regard to your ancestors!

These listings are not to be considered complete. Although I have endeavored to make them as
accurate as possible, I take no responsibility for their accuracy and in many cases I have
no relation to these families unless otherwise noted.

I have endeavored to include inscriptions subsequent to the Publication of Old Gravestones
of Dutchess and/or Stones with inscriptions added subsequent to that Publication.
