Meet Pete

& Pete Jr.

Our Senior troop has 2 deer mascots:

Pete & Pete Jr.

They are named after Barnegat Pete, a real deer who lived in our town of Barnegat,New Jersey. He was rescued from a forest fire and was raised as a member of the Beckett family back in the 1930's.

Our mascots started their adventures in December, 1997.

They have traveled to:Alaska, Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Georgia, Illinois, Indiana, Kansas, Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan, Mississippi, Missouri, Nebraska, New Hampshire, New York, North Carolina, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Texas, Utah, Vermont, Virginia, West Virginia, & Wisconsin. They've also visited guide units in England, Ireland and Wales.

Pete has even been a member of the bobsled team in the 2002 Mascot Olympics in Utah.
