We'reBirthday Cardhaving a My Little Pony party. She has invited about 10 girls who are friends and from school. We've had to cancel the blow-up pony-shaped bouncer due to bad weather. It's raining. So the plan now is to go to Chuck E. Cheeses and play on the games there.

Tina has made a wonderful cake. It has a large grass and flower covered hill with a river running down it. On the steep side is a rocky cliff. Some of Nicole's favorite "My Little Ponies" will be standing around on the cake.

Weather Chart for 2/17/2000I can't believe it's raining. It hasn't rained in weeks, but it picks today to start. It's just light, but enough to change the party plans.

It turned out that it didn't rain much at all, but it was enough to change our plans. We still had a good time at Chuck E. Cheese.

Computer news: Intel and AMD are fighting it out, racing to offer the fastest PC CPUs. Currently AMD is ahead, offering an 850Mhz. Intel is at 800Mhz. AMD has demonstrated a 1.1Ghz processor which probably won't be available until next year. Intel is expected to demonstrate a 1Ghz processor this week. (Update 3/09/2000: Both AMD and Intel have already started shipping their 1Ghz processors)

Our computer is an Intel Pentium 233Mhz with 96Mb RAM and 15Gb of hard disk space running Windows 98. The disk space and memory aren't too bad, but I could really use a faster CPU.

A new U.S. dollar coin has just been released. Like the Susan B. Anthony of the late 70's, it's similar in size to the quarter, but it is golden in color and has smooth sides making it more distinguishable from the quarter.

Microsoft's latest operating system, Windows 2000, becomes available right on Nicole's birthday! Will we be upgrading? Not yet. I'm not certain that all the kids games and our Bible software will run on it.

Gasoline is at its highest price in 9 years. It averages at $1.29 per gallon of regular unleaded fuel.

It's an election year and Texas Governor, George W. Bush (son of former President) is campaining. His biggest Republican opponent now is John McCain.
