Party! |
![Party Sign](010217-Dscn0391-Nicoles-Party-sign.jpg)
![Jungle Tent](010217-Dscn0385-Nicoles-party---Jungle-Tent.jpg) Nicole had a jungle party this year. We decorated the back yard with streamers,
tented the swing set, converted the playhouse into a hut and hung stuffed animals from strings all over. We even
bought a stuffed parrot that repeated everything you said to it. Very funny.
![Nicole's zebra birthday cake](010216-Dscn0379-Nicoles-birthday-cake.jpg)
Tina made a beautiful zebra cake. It tasted great too!
![Nicole at the](010217-Dscn0403-Nicole-at-watering-hole.jpg) In order to make it more like a jungle, we served the cake
on "leaves" and had the kids eat it with no utinsels. They seemed to love eating "animal style".
What a mess you say? Not to fear, we made an outside "watering hole" where the kids could get a drink
of water and wash their hands.
![Kid's playing animal cherades](010217-Dscn0401-Nicoles-party--animal-cherades.jpg)
We also played many party games like animal cheraides, poacher tag (freeze tag), peanut hunt and animal hunt.
Lots of fun!

Weather |
It has been raining
all week. In fact on Friday the 16th we got nearly five inches of rain! Fortunately, the rain ended Friday night
and was bright and sunny for Nicole's birthday. It was below freezing in the morning. A bit cold for decorating
the back yard. But by party time it was in the upper forties and was a nice day for a party. |
News around 2/17/2001 |
Computer news: The fastest personal
computers today run at about 1.5Ghz. Intel's Pentium 4 runs at up to that rate. Computers at 1Ghz have really come
down in price and can now be had for around the $1000 price (depending on options). Recordable CD drives and DVD
players are becoming quite common.
We still have the same old Intel Pentium 233Mhz with 96Mb RAM and 15Gb of hard disk space running Windows 98. At
work I have a new 1Ghz machine with 512Mb of RAM and a CD-RW drive. Very nice.
Microsoft's latest home operating
system is Windows ME. Microsoft is going to release a new version called Windows XP soon.
Gasoline is still at a high price.
We usually pay around $1.38 per gallon of regular unleaded fuel.
After a long battle last November
and December, former Texas Governor George W. Bush was finally declared president of the United States. The governor
of Texas is now Rick Perry.
