Everyone says, He was raised in a good home with strong christian  values, how could this have happened? 

Everyone knows Michael went awry, but why? 

     In my opinion Michael felt he didn't get the support from Paducah that he desperately needed.  Michael is a bright young man with thoughts that conflicted with his parents, church, and Paducah.  Did he feel he could turn to someone for support and understanding?  MUST NOT HAVE!!  Instead he turned to the Internet and his friend and neighbor Toby Nace. 

     The Internet, instead of offering help, only built up support for Michael's thoughts and feelings.  The Internet is a terrible place for the uninformed and those that are unable to filter out the endless media content.  You can find all the information to support any position, whether rational or not. 

     His friend Toby has an apparent obsession with weapons.  If you search you will find he has three e-mail address, Glock@Rocketmail.com, Glock30@Rocketmail.com, and Glock67@Rocketmail.com (GLOCK is a handgun).  Who is Toby Nace?  He is the boy who gave Michael the key to his fathers weapons locker.  Don't tell me that Toby is innocent.  In my eyes he is just as guilty as Michael and should serve the same fate. 

     What are the failings of Paducah?  Paducah has a population of approx. 30K and more church seating capacity than the town I live in of 100K.  Michael consistently felt overwhelmed by religion in Paducah and Heath High School.  Just imagine, for a minute, if you were not a christian and you were forced to be surrounded by christian symbols on a daily basis.  Now I am not saying Michael is not a christian, but all teenagers go through a period of enlightenment and if you are in a situation that you feel you are unable to discuss your thoughts and feelings, eventually you are going to burst.  Paducah obviously didn't cut it for Michael. 

     Why was an informal prayer group allowed to have a daily meeting in the main lobby of Heath High School?  Hasn't McCraken county heard of something called separation of church and state?  This prayer meeting may not have been established by the school, but it's continuance was most certainly sanctioned by the school.  If the prayer group had been the Pagan prayer meeting or Muslims praying to Mecca the school would have forced it off campus or only allowed them to meet outside school hours.  SHAME ON THE MCCRAKEN COUNTY SCHOOL DISTRICT!

     The reality is that if Paducah is to ensure that their children grow in the world today, then Paducah had better make sure they establish an environment of trust and understanding with the children.
