My Pets
My hamster, Sophia My pet Sophia My rabbit, Brownie

To the left is Sophia, the hamster and to the right is Browny, the "inside" rabbit.
We also have 2 more rabbits in cages outside, and one that runs free in the back yard. The rabbits had to be separated because they will kill each other; we found that out the hard way! Despite the fact that they are all Browny's children, once the boys matured, they became territorial and defended their territory very agressively. The weakest was eventually killed by the others! The mother rabbit, a lop-ear called, Bonny, was killed when she ventured off into the neighbour's yard. The neighbours have 2 dogs. One of them ate all but Bonny's head, front legs, and her fur. Frisky, the rabbit that runs free in the yard, knows not to go next door. The other 2, Raven and Stripe, need to stay caged because Raven could follow her mothers lead into the yard next door, and Stripe won't stay out of our flower beds.

A DIFFERENT KIND OF PET

This is not really a pet! It is a wild squirrel that decided it would be easier to make friends than to scavenge for food. She is very brave, and will climb right up on me or my daughter. I was quite surprised as to how bold she was when she made herself at home in our kitchen on the very first day that she ventured inside the house. She let me pet her twice so far, and my daughter did it too! So far, she has not brought her babies around to us, but my neighbour thinks she has her nest somewhere in his yard, as he did spot at least 3 young ones with her.
