If you find your self-bagging lawn mower is not bagging the grass clippings as well as it
used to, it could be that the bag is clogged with dust and dirt! Hold the bag up to the
light and try looking through it from the inside of the bag. If you cannot see lots of
light coming through the bag, use a stiff brush to thoroughly brush off all the
accumulated dirt from the inside of the bag, then shake out the bag on your lawn.
The dirt will feed the lawn. This method works best if the bag is completely dry.
You can also try using high-pressure water and blast all outside surfaces of the bag
with a stream of water to knock all the dirt off the sides. For most effectiveness,
keep the stream of water at 90 degrees to the surface of the bag. Make sure to flush
all the dirt out of the bag and then let the bag dry thoroughly before use. You
should find that a good cleaning will restore your bagging power back to what it
was like when it was new!
