My twin sister Cathy and her husband Brad have been living in Paris, France for the past year and a half. Since our mom, Cathy and I have a tradition of spending Thanksgiving together, last year and again this year we have celebrated the holiday (and our birthday) in PARIS!! This year's trip was a great time!

We drove out to Fontainebleau, an extravagant chateau outside of Paris.
Napoleon called it "the true home of kings, the house of centuries".
One of the most unique features is the horseshoe-shaped staircase
ascending from the courtyard up to the front doors.
Also, there a small gazebo on an island in the middle of the lake!
(hard to tell in the picture in the link below due to trees blocking view of the water.)

We all went to the Grand Palais for the Georges de la Tour exhibit.

Linda Q. joined us and recommended a visit to
the Musee Marmotton which had many beautiful paintings by
Claude Monet, including some waterlillies and other classics.

We climbed up a spiral staircase to the bell towers of Notre Dame
where we came face-to-face with scary gargoyles!

From the bell towers we could see the entire city
and a fantastic view of the Seine River.

We started off Thanksgiving day with a french activity...
going to a wine-tasting festival! Then back to Cathy and Brad's to prepare and eat a delicious Thanksgiving meal! YUM!

Brad, Cathy & I drove to the French town Strasbourg, which is right next to Germany. First we went to the famous cathedral and climbed up to the roof where we could look up & see the spire rising above us!

Next we walked through the city
to the the covered bridge where we could look back and see
the river , old guard towers, and the cathedral in the distance.
