Current Activities

On March 16th, six members of Luray Chapter 436 attended the meeting of the Summers-Koontz Camp 490, Sons of Confederate Veterans.  The meeting, held at Dan's Steak House near Luray, marked the resurrection of a camp which was originally chartered in 1904.  After nearly 75 years, Summers-Koontz 490 was officially back in the SCV fold.

Chapter President, Mrs. Merle Hilscher presented Camp Commander Charles A. Burner with an engraved gavel from the ladies of 436.  Robert W. Barbour, Virginia Division Commander of the SCV formally presented  the charter to Commander Burner.

Together, Luray Chapter 436 and Summers-Koontz 490 will commit to preserving, protecting, and remembering our Confederate heritage.
