A Letter to Home, to Country and to God

Yes, I am Special Forces.
Call me a Ranger.
Call me Don.
What I want in life,
I want my country to be proud of me,
for I am proud of it.
I want my family to be proud of me,
for I am so proud of them.
I want most of all my God to be proud of me,
for he sees me when I am scared, lonely and so tired.
He sees me cry and laugh, and if He bids,
I shall see Him before I see my country or my family.
God, stay close ........

This piece was given to me by a very dear friend. His mother has kept this for many years. I wish now to share it with you.
I hope in my humble way to do justice to it for the brave young man who wrote it and to his wonderful family for allowing me to share it.
I hope that if Don should look down and see this, that he approves.....
