Suicide

If you are suicidal and in immediate crisis please phone the emergency service for your country (dial 911 in the US or 999 in the UK) and ask for help. Then tell someone you trust not to leave you alone!

Suicide is a permanent answer to a temporary problem. Suicide does not just affect the life of the person committing suicide, it affects that person’s family, their friends, the people who go to school with them, work with them, are in class with them, are in clubs with them, live near them, just about everyone that knows the person who commits suicide is affected when a suicide occurs. The most damaging effect is to those closet to the dead person.

Sometimes in our lives, things get so bad or feel so bad, that we can not endure a single second more. It is at these times that we get clouded and our thinking becomes clouded and we see death as the only real alternative we have to resolve our problems.

Suicidal feelings can be caused by our body chemistry which can happen on its own or can be triggered by something we experience, see, hear, or smell. Sometimes the cause is not very clear and we think that we have lost our mind, that we are crazy. It can be accompanied by other feelings of anxiety, paranoia, stress, or physical feelings such as excessive sweating, pain, etc.

If you feel, or ever feel suicidal (meaning that we feel like killing ourselves), then the most important thing to do is not be alone! You can either find someone to stay with you, call someone, wake up someone, call a hotline! JUST DO IT! You cannot be alone!

Telephone Hotlines

If you are having a problem and you need HELP or advice there are national and local telephone helplines you can call. Phoning these numbers is normally free and private. The people you talk to are trained to be able to help you and you dont need to tell them who you are or where you live.

Because these numbers are free they shouldnt show up on your home phone bill but if you are worried about that you might want to call from a phone box or from a friends phone.
