Homecoming

Outside the new house

.....It took a while to settle in. The furniture didn't arrive for another nine days so we borrowed an air mattress from a friend and camped out in one of the bedrooms. The cars took even longer.

.....Moreso, after so many moves and changes of direction in our lives, Sherry and I were slow to accomodate to the new environment. Yes, it was really an old environment but you are never quite the same people coming back and there were three years of living imbetween. Energies had to be invested in a new set of jobs (with all the new networking), establishing a new household, and a whole new set of kids activities. Is it a wonder we have yet to see some of our old friends one year after arrival?!

.....Of course, none of this phased the kids. They never missed a beat. The first thrill for them was to meet the girl next door, ALEXIS, who is their age and attends the same SCHOOL, Le Jardin. At the new school, Alec was soon charming his new first grade teacher, CASSIE CALDERONE. Sabrina's second grade teacher was JENNIFER SOUZA.

Lord Gandolf and Pal

.....Our community is called "Haiku Plantations". As mentioned, we lived here for more than a year before we left for Virginia. It's a mix of young and old, the retired folk and the never-to-retire folk such as myself, the easy-going and the snobbish, good apples and bad apples. In other words, it's your typical all-American all-the-time neighborhood. Being self-contained, though, perhaps there is a stronger sense of community. They have a lot of community activities during the year from fourth of July parades to Christmas parties. One of these activities is called Treat Street where Halloween celebrations include the construction of individually decorated booths along a designated street for kids (and adults) to trick-or-treat among.

.....Here's the Halloween, 2003, TREAT STREET and the Turner HAUNTED MANSION and HAUNTED KIDS. At dusk, the FESTIVITIES began.
