My Family Tree

Come rest beneath my family tree
and let it shade your brow,
And listen close its whispered tales
of times both then and now!

It will proudly tell of struggles
that we conquered in this land,
Like all we searched for freedom
with prayer and strength of hand!

It will tell you of our Samuel
and Tom and Jim and Joe,
How each had served with valor
in wars of long ago!

We each have made our mark upon
a page of history,
So come and rest and listen
the stories of this tree!
