Don's Christmas Nut and Fruit Loaf
1 1/2 lbs dark chocolate covered cherries
1 lb vanilla wafers
12 oz raisins
8 oz chopped dates
2 cups shelled brazil nuts
2 cups shelled pecans
2 cups shelled walnuts
1 cup Eagle Brand sweetened condensed milk

Crush vanilla wafers and chocolate cherries, mix all other goodies in (I use my hands) and add condensed milk. Line two bread loaf pans with foil or wax paper, pack each tightly. Put into refrigerator, let chill and store there. This is wonderfully rich.

Orange Toast
1 cup butter, softened (Do Not Use Margarine)
1 cup sugar
2 tsp. dried orange rind
1 loaf Pepperidge Farm extra thin white bread

Make a spread of the first three ingredients. Spread approximately one teaspoon per slice of bread, making sure all corners are covered. Cut each slice into thirds. (2 cookie sheets should hold the recipe) Bake at 250 degrees for 1 hour.

Cranberry Bread
2 cups plain flour
1 1/4 cups sugar
1 1/2 tsp baking powder
1/2 tsp baking soda
1/2 tsp salt
Grated rind of 1 large orange
Juice of 1 large orange
2 Tbsp melted margarine
1 egg beaten
1 tsp vanilla
1 cup chopped nuts
1 cup halved cranberries
Boiling water

Combine rind, juice of orange, margarine and boiling water until total of this equals 3/4 cup. Blend the 3/4 cup of liquid with dry ingredients only until flour is damp. Fold in egg and vanilla. Add nuts and cranberries. Pour into greased loaf pan. Bake at 350 degrees for 60 to 70 minutes.
