The family name is found only in Essex & Herts Cos. 
The earliest mention yet found is in 1545 when John 
Rouscoue, alein, assessed 3s4d of goods at Great 
Cunmow. Co Esex is subsidy of 37 Henry VIII.  This 
is about 10 miles Eaast of Sawbridgeworth & some 
distance North of Chelmsford.  This name was probably 
of Flemish or Dutch origin and probably the family 
came to England in the 16th Cy. when there was 
considerable Huguenot immigration from the the 
English channel.
