Foreword from “Growing with God”

Have you taken a good look at the young people in the world?  Now, have you looked at the youth in the church?  Who is influencing whom?  It really is not too difficult to tell.  Who are the church kid’s heroes?  What kind of music do the church kids listen to?  How long has it been since you have heard of a real youth revival?  When you hear the word rebellion, whom do you think of?

Take a look at the real problems of the youth in this generation.  They are not just getting into minor dilemmas; they are now in courts for adults, many of who are in their early teens.  Thirteen-year-olds are getting pregnant; many youth have already experimented with, or consistently use, drugs.  Curious seekers of fulfillment in pleasure follow the crowds into a lifestyle that many will not survive.

Have I said enough?  Someone must go to the forefront and teach our young people “truth."  Someone must truly “care” for the youthful lives now, while they can be influenced.  That is why I am writing this statement.

Mark and Glenda Alphin have pursued this ministry for some time now.  They have made it their goal to provide a firm foundation for our children – one that they can stand on, depend on, and turn to in times of adversity and peer pressure.  It is a burden from the Lord that just would not go away.  On the pages of this book, you will find a place to start.  We must turn the tide to righteousness, purpose, and purity for our youth.

If you cannot control a child, you cannot teach them the right things.  Many parents are afraid of their children, thus they cannot teach them.  They do not know where to start, or how to begin.  Please consider the value of a ministry directed to a generation of youth who are crying for someone to fill the gap that is in their lives …  His name is Jesus, but they won’t know that unless someone like you gets involved.

I trust that the Alphin’s work will be a tool you can use for better good of the Kingdom in this late hour.  I have been their pastor for 7 years now … I believe in them and their God.
