Educating the youth of Appalachia and instilling a sense of pride in their unique heritage  is  a challenging task.
It is our conviction that by  researching our local history and ancestors, we will  maintain  family cohesion that is so necessary to     providing security and self esteem  which  are vital to us as developing young adults. We are dedicated to the principle that the family is truly the  foundation of America and that      genealogy is the slim thread that binds us to our history and  our future ...
The following web pages will give the viewer a glimpse into our individual worlds.
This was a pilot project which evolved from our Appalachian  studies class. We wanted to do something special to celebrate being alive to see the year 2000. We involved many people in our project  and would like to thank them all .Most importantly, we'd like to thank our families for having the patience to help us with our research, provide unlimited stories , photographs , cameras, video equipment, transportation, money for postage and phone calls. We haven't forgotten you.
Also, we'd like to give a special thanks to Peggy Adkins,Harts High School principal, for making it possible for us to acquire a book binding machine and for encouraging us in our efforts.
In addition, we would like to thank The Educational Alliance for supplying us with funds toward the completion of the first phase of  our project (1999-2000 school term)  and to Our Town USA for selecting our project as a 2nd place winner in their sweepstakes this year(2000-2001).
Lastly, we'd like to thank all our  long distance internet volunteers . You have provided the secure internet access we needed to explore, encouragement, and support for our efforts. We also need to thank all the folks who send us information and pictures to use for our site and mostly for the words that  encouraged and  guided us along our way.
