Kimlet's African Journey

Kingdom of Swaziland, a small country that lies on the northeast corner of South Africa, is not well-known to many civilized countries. Not surprisingly, Swaziland is a country of the true third-world. 90% of the people live in poverty with no water and electricity. The country itself is independent, and it is not influenced by the Europeans like South Africa. Of course, not ruled under apartheid (neither is South Africa now), people in Swazi have happier history than South Africa. The Swazis love helping each other out in any situation, and they like purity. Here are less than half of the pictures I've taken in Africa. Enjoy.

The view from my mom's house.

In front of a Swazi shop.

Cows are the main cause of an automobile accident.

This is when my mother and I took a one day session at Swazi Trails. Here, I'm floating in the Swazi river with the wild cows in the background.

Another picture of me at the river. The rapids took me off to a big rock nearby. I'm about to drown in 3 seconds.

This is a second part of Swazi Trails. I'm going down a rock of 15 meters high.

My mom also challenges going down.

From left: The driver, a guide, another guide, me.

I approached these kids going back home from school on a dirt road. They were a bit shy, but very sweet.

Now we're in South Africa. This is in front of a fireplace at a nice lodge called "Kloppenheim." The place had wild animals and horse rides to enjoy.

At the Kloppenheim horse ride. My mom on the left, Mr. Miyata on the right. Mr. Miyata is a travel agent from South Africa. He came with his wife to reunite with my mom and Mr. Maeda.

We're back in Swaziland here. The lady sells corn for 2 rands (~28 cents).

In front of a grocery store, "Pick-n-Pay." They were having an AIDS campaign.

I'm getting my lunch from this guy. Paps, mashed corn, is the staple food in Swazi.
