Floor Weekend 2005 Edition

Greeting from NW Wisconsin!

Last weekend was the first and hopefully the last floor weekend.  We can finally say the floor got laid so when you walk on the floor thank a layer. See the rest of this issue of the Go-Fer for  pictorial highlights of the weekend.

Getting the Floor Laid
Globilization is a fact of life. Even the board of directors has gotten on the bandwagon by outsourcing the laying of the floor on the main level.  The work was outsourced to G. A. Strawball & Co. of Chestrocker.   Although there were allegations of a conflict of interest on the part of the Executive Director in the end cabin board members gave the current Executive Director a vote of confidence -- this  in spite of calls for reopening the bidding process by Q & D Construction Company.  The following pictures summarize the progress made over the weekend.    The only way you will know what a quality job the cabin got is to come up to the cabin.

The day began with a breakfast by Quick and Dirty Catering.

The professionals from G.A. Strawball (give them a hug to thank them if you see them).

It took all day but we finally found the foreman doing some actual work.

Ask Elmer

     Q. I am leaving
for another country in hopes of finding myself  so won't be able to come up to the cabin. Do you have any advice?
              -  Seniorita from Stewartville
     A. Since the cabin newsletter is on the Internet be sure to take the URL with you when you go. But if that fails you can find the newsletter in Google if you try long enough.

     Q. I am off at college and an searching for new ways to rebel against my parents who are strong union people. What can I do?
              -  Duped in Dakota
      A. First of all you can be sure to say good things about the Bush administration (you may have to search hard but it is possible).  Another option is to get a job at a big box nonunion store for the summer.  Be sure to tell you parents about how well they treat you  at work.
