I met in München my friends Jonas and Christoph and the first thing we did was to look for a camping. I probably don't have to explain, why we had a hard time finding a place to stay. There were millions and millions of tourists in München at this time, trying to get a glimps of this tradition. When we finnaly did find camping it was time to figure out how the tents were suppose to look like, since we had borrowed them. But since I had two physics students with me it only took us 45 min
I'm sure that many of you have heard about this wild German tradition called the Oktoberfest! Well, I've been living in Germany since two month as an ERASMUS student, and of course I have to discover the true German style. Only for this reason did I go to München on a sunny September Week-end, to experience this aspect of the German life.
The first night, we just walked around the Theresienwiese, where the amusement park was, with all the huge beer houses. We tried to get in into several of them, but everywhere we got the same answer: "You have to book a seat several days before in order to get in!" So, that night we gave up the thought of geting in, and after a good Capuccino in an Italien restaurant and some beers, it was time to try and get some sleep. I frose the whole night in the tent and this is how we looked like after the first night.
I shouldn't forget to mention the most important meeting of the century! When Mu (on the left) meet Evert (on the right)
The first excursion of the day was to the English park. The weather was wonderful and needed along walk in the sun after that cold night! Here can you see Christoph, me, Jonas and of course Mu
So why do so many people visit the Oktober fest?? One big reason is the traditional Maß accompanied by salty Bretzel. Here we found the Chinese tower in which a folks band played something which I call Oktoberfest music. And here I drank my first Maß! One liter pure German beer!
Later that night, after a cheap dinner, we were recomended to go to Bräuhaus München, where we were sure of finding a place to seat down and drink together with the ordinary Münchenese . Bräuhaus München looked just exactly as I pictured it! Long, long beer tables, where the people were drinking this huge Maß and singing along with the band, dressed in Lederhosen. We did want to fit in so sand as well!
After all that happiness, a little accident happend and somebody was sorry. Who could it be??!?
Well, that summarizes it all, the Oktoberfest trip!
