VFW Post 8661 Community Support

Our Post puts the utmost effort into supporting the local communities of Bailey, Conifer, Grant, Pine Junction and Shawnee, CO. The following items listed below, are some of the activities this Post has done and/or will be doing, to provide support.

- Promoting the Voice of Democracy and Youth Essay contests for local schools
- Providing comfort and support to veterans, widows and children.
- Provide color guard at veteran's funerals
- Provide flag ceremonies before home football games at Platte County High School
- Provide coffee & donuts for travelers on Labor Day
- Provides flags to local cemeteries
- Provide for ceremonies on Veteran's Day and Memorial Day
- Spruce up local cemeteries for Veteran's Day and Memorial Day
- Host a country breakfast the first Sunday of each month
- Volunteer for highway cleanups
- Various donations as funds allow
- Volunteer in local community efforts
